In Switzerland there are six clinical research centres, known as Clinical Trial Units (CTUs), which are supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The SCTO coordinates the collaboration between these centres and supports the CTUs in the following areas:
- Quality standards: definition and implementation of internationally recognized quality standards for the conduct of studies
- Continued education and training coordination
- Intermediation and coordination: in particular support for national and international multi-centre studies
The SCTO is the coordination platform of the CTU-Network and therefore its representative and contact for authorities, industry and media.
