Associate member

The SCTO is an independent organisation and is based on a joint initiative of the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences.

As of 2017, the SCTO is a research infrastructure of national importance funded by the State Secretariat of Education, Research and Innovation and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Research promotion

Support for clinical research

The SCTO actively promotes adequate research funding, irrespective of the pathology. As an umbrella organisation the SCTO itself does not carry out clinical research projects nor does it provide funds for such, but it offers the infrastructure necessary for their implementation.

Funding instruments or sources of funding for clinical research are available, on the one hand, on a project basis and, on the other hand, as individual grants.

International sources, European Union

The SCTO participates as observer in the ECRIN consortium and is the Swiss contact point for infrastructures in Switzerland in the field of clinical research.
