The SCTO is an independent organisation and is based on a joint initiative of the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences.

As of 2017, the SCTO is a research infrastructure of national importance funded by the State Secretariat of Education, Research and Innovation and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Work together to increase the relevance, impact, and quality of academic clinical research in Switzerland.

Our mission

As a reference institution for academic clinical research in Switzerland, the SCTO and its CTU Network* foster collaboration between the best minds in the field and thus increase the impact and value of patient care.

*The Clinical Trial Units (CTUs) provide all the services needed for clinical research projects to run smoothly. In 2007 the CTUs formed a network, which now represents a well-established and nationally coordinated clinical research infrastructure.
